wrong alternator pulley

I just bought a replacement alternator for my newshape 2003 Bongo 2.5 diesel as per the Bongo Fury factsheet: 'alternator'. Hitachi part number LR190734.
But it's come with a single pulley rather than my original double pulley.
While I could just swap the pulley over, I worry that the alternator ...

Same engine?

I've found the workshop manual for the 2006 Ford Ranger diesel engine: https://cardiagn.com/2006-09-ranger-engine/ It uses the same accelerator position sensor as my 53 plate new-shape bongo, and the diesel engine looks very similar. Is it in fact the same engine? If so, the Ranger manual is in ...

Re: where is throttle position sensor

Found it above the pedal: the 'syringe' thingy is just a switch - presumably to check you don't have your foot on the gas when you start the engine.
It looks similar to the old-shape throttle TPS3.jpg TPS2.jpg sensor, just re-located.
Does anyone have an electrical description for it? Which sensor ...

Re: where is throttle position sensor

Thanks,
There is something on the throttle pedal - looks like a syringe. I thought it was just a kick-down switch but now you've got me thinking!

where is throttle position sensor

I've a newshape 53 plate diesel bongo.

I'm trying to locate the throttle position sensor, but it seems to be in a different place to the older models. Attached is a piccy of my driver's side engine bay, can someone spot the TPS sensor for me?
Confused!

jumping out of gear

10 miles from home (engine warm: always know when it's warm as the ignition light flashes, been doing this for 3 years with absolutely no engine problems). All was well until I had to stop at a roundabout.

Moving off, engine revved to 3000 before 1st engaged, and that set the tone for the rest of ...

heater problem

When I dial-in the temperature I want the cabin at, anything from 31.5 degrees C or lower just produces cold air, whilst 32 degrees C produces a blast of very hot air.
Why's my heater system gone binary?

Re: Reversing camera

Hi,
I wired the camera into the numberplate light, as it was difficult to get a wire from the rear door to the reversing light.
I just switch on the sidelights for reversing.

Handbrake warning light

My handbrake warning light stays on most of the time when I'm driving, though the handbrake is definitely off.
Does this signify anything?

is an alarm fitted?

I bought a second-hand new-shape Bongo.
It came with a keyfob which locks the doors and flashes the indicators, but does the Bongo come with a fitted alarm and/or immobiliser as standard?

Re: help, garage can't fix my bongo

Can anyone suggest a Garage in/near Scotland (Glasgow) that does know Bongos?

Thanks,

help, garage can't fix my bongo

My garage (an auto-electronics outfit) have admitted defeat. They've had my newshape 2003 diesel Bongo in for three weeks, and have been round the forums.
The glow light is flashing an engine fault: the second EGR valve (the one with the 3-wire sensor, there are two apparently) doesn't appear to be ...

Re: warning light: mystery solenoid

I notice that on your supplied diagram:
http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... 2of03.html.
that there's a sensor marked 'boost sensor'; is that what I'm looking for?

Thanks,

warning light: mystery solenoid

I've got a 2003 turbo-diesel Bongo with the variable vane valve on the end of the turbocharger.
I'm getting a flashing engine warning light: my garage have checked the vacuum into the variable vane valve and it's strong; no leakage in the vacuum system.

The garage have identified a solenoid valve ...

Re: my bongo engine warning light is flashing

Many thanks, folks. How do we tell whether my turbo diesel bongo has this variable vane (VGT) or just a waste gate valve?
