Re: ABS dash light will not go out
Hi, used to have a Ford Ranger, which also had an annoying ABS warning / code 43. After much messing around, replacing sensors with main dealer I sorted it myself.... It was actually error codes (4) and then code (3), which from a ford forum post found those meant ABS sensor/connector error and then ...

Re: Bongo Cooling System
You can bleed it alone, by thinking it through + and making a hook to hold the funnel high and low. Bit of dashing about between header and bottom hose - always be aware of scolding hot water.
Obviously easier with three pairs of hands or a helper.

Re: Coolant alarm not working
Like I say, would suspect a broken wire. Can't you disconnect the ground to the tank at the unit, and then test the unit by grounding the pin direct to earth? That would simulate a good connection through the coolant, so it should go through it's little test when turning the ignition.

Re: Coolant alarm not working
Eh? It's a low coolant alarm; it only lights up & sounds for a few seconds (test) when key is first turned in the ignition and then again (of course) when the coolant drops below that screw in the header tank. They are bulletproof - likely just a bad earth or broken wire.

Re: Tailgate gas strut upgrade
You might have to get creative. Remove a strut, and measure (carefully if you like your front teeth) the max weight in Kg it can take before it starts to compress. Then add on half the weight of your rack + bike and convert the total to Newtons.

Re: Dash-mouted parker sensor - Error 'E2' on the display
I used to have one of those, at least it looked similar.... pretty sure code E2 means that two sensors on the rear bumper are not working. Think you should be able to de-pin/disconnect one by one to identify the suspects by a process of elimination.

Re: Overheating issues and coolant bleeding
If you are in Bristol, then ADS down in Ashton Gate are really great - anything to do with cooling, belts, or engine/gearbox or turbo it's well worth the extra for a bongo specialist. If you take it ADS with those symptoms, they will almost certainly check compression on each cylinder. Also, get ...

Re: Overheating issues and coolant bleeding
Strongly advise you only use a specialist garage for anything to do with the cooling system on these diesels.

Re: 2.5 DT: Lazy Temperature Gauge and Topping Up Coolant
Don't drive it!! Sounds like an airlock - you urgently need to bleed the system,.... and find why the coolant level has dropped. Likely nothing wrong with the temp. guage, but they are notoriously inaccurate and laggy. Get a low coolant alarm fitted!!!!

Re: Auto diesel HOLD flashing...
Sounds like the vehicle has been laid up awhile. First thing I'd do is disconnect both starter and leisure batteries and pump the brake pedal - this should clear the ECU errors. Test your batteries, make sure they are well charged and in good condition.
Then reconnect both batteries, start and see ...

Re: Double seats
Yes, looking at the side conversion & materials used in your photos, the unit looks identical to mine (done around 2011), so I am pretty certain the conversion was by Budget Bongos in Southampton. I think it was called "Mistral" but my memory is hazy. Think Budget have folded/moved, and it's now ...

Re: Double seats
I have a similar conversion. Basically, they have stripped all the upholstery back, cut the middle seat out, then re-welded the seat frames retaining the floor rail and seat belt attachments, so yes "cut n shut". Done well it's a really nice job as retains the original safety factors for the seat ...

Re: Diesel crank no start
You really do have to crank it over for quite some time for it to bleed; last time I changed the filter it caught straight away, then died and took loads of cranking to bleed properly and catch again. It's a real simple system, but the ECU has all sorts of sensor inputs to ruin your day. If it ...
