Electrics - Tap

Post by cheesybongo » Thu Jul 31, 2025 8:05 pm

Hi All,

New Bongo Land Member with a Bongo Friendee conversion.

I hope this is OK to post - I have searched around for an existing question on the forum but haven't been able to find one that quite fits. It's regarding the electrics that runs to the tap in my Bongo. Our van was converted by Imperial Leisure Vehicles and is the 'Lulworth' conversion. It's got a fridge, hobs and sink along with LED lights.

The 12v system is controlled by a CBE PC200 Control Panel, and the power runs through a DS300 12V distribution board.

There is no voltage running to the power cables that run to the tap. There is a button to switch on the power to the tap on the control panel, which when pressed lights up as if to say 'it's turned on!', but no voltage to the wires.... :-(

There is also no voltage running across the fuse connections, for the tap fuse, on the distribution board.

Is there a common fault that I haven't thought of that might cause this, or does this point to a faulty distribution board? Or Control Panel? Or Wiring behind the scenes? And if it is one of these, which might be causing the issue?

Any help massively appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

Are you trying on 240v mains hook-up, or leisure battery... or both? Be SUPER careful around the distribution board if on hook-up. Treat it like the consumer unit in your house. The comments below are general....

There is a main fuse ~40A or a cut-off RCD + smaller rated MCB's in the distribution board.

There is usually a little barrel fuse in the 12v control panel. There is also a rocker switch that says CAR or VAN or 0 centre position OFF. There may also be a volt meter gauge to give an indication of battery level. The usual installation is that the campervan equipment, ie fridge, tap, lights etc, only work when rocker switch is in VAN position, and the voltmeter should register voltage and be showing in the green range ideally - however, this is not always the case (as depends on the individual conversion and how it's wired).

You might want to make sure all the above fuses/MCBs are not blown/tripped and the rocker switch is set correctly and supplying voltage to the tap. Then check the tap switch / grounding.

After that, you'd need to start tracing wiring, checking grounds and main fuse to leisure battery etc, ideally with a multimeter.

Edit: ah sorry, scotch all that, just realized you have a fancy digital controller setup. No idea why Imperial would fit something so expensive, and solid state, unless you have fancy water tanks, sensors, solar and inverters etc, maybe to cut down the nest of wiring required.
