Re: Recent Bongo Trip through Europe

Hi - we're doing something similar (well until the South of France) - did you need to get a Swiss motorway pass? Friends of ours are telling us we need one but I'm wondering if during the short part of the journey in Switzerland we should just avoid the motorways.

Hi - to test the bearings do you need to remove the belts - or just drop the tension on them?

Re: temperature difference - steel pipework to adjacecent ru

I've put a sensor in the engine top hose. My temps are pretty much the same as those Jamie is getting from the sensor attached to the rubber hose. My water temp will really struggle to get to 82c (stat opening) during normal running. During normal travel it generally hovers around the 72-75 range ...

Re: DIY non invasive temperature gauge probe placement ideas

Thinking about that....I have one sensor on the stat housing and one in the top hose....there is often 30C differance....I'm not going to be able to dial that out.......So you have to place the sensors so there will never be more than 20C differance between them...???have I got that??

I really ...

Re: DIY non invasive temperature gauge probe placement ideas

Hi i have fitted the first probe from a cube to the hose outlet stub by screwing it into a deep socket first and then "lashing it tight with a very heavy duty tie wrap, the other probe is threaded into the rear of cylinder head as recommended ,alls well until it reaches 62C then the cube stops ...

Re: Headlight coating

I've found a few Youtube 'detailing' vids prescribing wet sanding at 1000, then 1500 then 2000 grade, then buffing with a rubbing compound then using the aforementioned plast RX polish. The results on the vids looked brilliant but I'm concerned that the wet sanding would cause bigger issues. What do ...

missfixit70 wrote:Sounds like that's it, what about using a bit of heat shrink tubing to repair?
I've done exactly this after an almost identical episode with the Pela pump first time round. I measured the heat shrink to the dipstick length + a bit so that I don't get it stuck again.

Re: High temp - diagnosis needed please

it sounds like an incomplete bleed issue to me, the bottom hose should get very hot during the final stages of the bleed, this indicates that the stat did/has opened.
if it just got warm then the chances are there is still air in the head,as noted with hot head readings.during bleeding the stat ...

Aftermarket timing belt

Hi all

I've recently changed the timing belt on my van - the belt I removed was a BANDO POWER RIDGE belt. It looks in fairly good condition so I was wondering if it would have been fitted on import to the UK (last year). Anybody know if any of the UK suppliers are stocking this belt? The one I ...

Re: High temp - diagnosis needed please

OK - just to close this off, after much head scratching I decided that this was nothing to do with the timing of the engine - it was either a radiator issue, thermostat or bleed issue (or all three). So last night and this evening I started to work this through: -

Re: Dodgy problem

Cant start engine, but can when in neutral. :(

I was wondering if it could be the starter-motor solenoid points wearing out? They do kits for them on Ebay. But I can't really understand how this would improve on moving to Neutral.

Probably needs someone with knowledge of the autobox to help out ...

Hi widdowson2008 , I have no idea what make it is , I myself ordered all parts and collected , paid for an original thermostat from mazda at Truro , I then supplied parts to the local mechanic, It was only when Allan took apart the cooling system that he found this in place as the thermostat, so ...
