Re: Electric Blind - repeated stops
Thanks for the various comments guys. I decided I couldn't live with a manual blind so I spent the day stripping it down, and it turned out to be a failed servo drive. Actually quite easy to remove from its mount once the internal side panel was off. As luck would have it there is a Bongo in the bre...

Electric Blind - repeated stops
Anyone seen this problem before? Electric blind activates and moves about a cm before cutting out, until the button is pressed again. Makes for very slow progress to open or close the blind. Only applies to one window, and makes no difference whether I use the dedicated button, or the master switch ...

Roof tent wanted 1998 or earlier
Need a replacement roof tent for the original shape (pre-face lifted) van. Silver preferred but will consider anything in good condition. South Wales based, but will travel within reason. Please message back or call 07971 630157.

ABS Sensor Replacement - V6
Does anyone know of an alternative ABS sensor that will fit a Bongo (1998 V6 ABS) ? There is nothing listed in the Club database but the Mazda originals are chokingly expensive - especially as this is now the second one to fail on my van ! As an alternative is it worth changing the whole hub for one...

Re: The Rust Directory
Just had our arches done in April 2015 by C N Bodyshine in Pontllanfraith (near Caerphilly) in South Wales. Nice job using the usual Mercedes Sprinter arches and a competitive price.
Would recommend. No website but contact details are :

Shorting Risk Diesel - engine oil dipstick ?!
Very worried today as my partner went to do a routine oil level check (with the ignition off) and managed to create a short which burnt the end of the dipstick !!!! Seems like the dipstick bridged between an electrical connection nut on the end of the alternator, and the dipstick casing (which is ob...

Re: Hold Button
As above no probs with hold button. However, did always wonder, mechanically does pressing the button do exactly the same to the gearbox as moving the shift lever to knock it down a gear ?

Re: Temperature Gauge Sensor
Thanks guys. Great advice.
Shorting the wire down to ground proved the guage was working. Replaced the sensor and now all is fine.

Temperature Gauge Sensor
Temperature gauge stopped working altogether. Suspect the sensor may need replacing but anyone know how to check if it is working ? The WL-T manual is very helpful on the "Water Temperature Sensor" (two wires) but says nothing about the gauge sensor (single wire). Not even where to find it...

Re: Another roof bars and lifting roof question
Personally I gave up on my roof-box and now use a small trailer (far more convenient - try getting something out of your roof box in the middle of the night when its raining and the roof is already up!) Also the AFT occasionally struggles to reach the top anyway. (Have to back up and try again, or e...

Re: V6 Chugging, rev fluctuation and smoke
Hi Tom "Chugging" and hesitancy at low revs sounds very like the mis-firing I had due to my HT ignition. Smoke and emissions fit this too, as the mis-fires result in unburnt fuel going into the exhaust. See : http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=55204&sid=b259...

Re: Oil leak mystery
If you want to blank off your EGR Allan's in Plymouth sells a pair of blanking plates for £12 with detailed diy fitting instructions. http://www.allansvehicleservices.co.uk/ I found by using an offset 12 mm ring spanner I could even fit the plate under the valve without taking out the air filter ass...

Re: Temperature gauge question
First priority should be to fit a coolant loss alarm. Fairly easy diy fit if you are a dab hand at electrics, or a quick job for an auto electrician. If you spring a gradual leak or suddenly blow a hose this will alert you before you do damage to the engine. It is the difference between £15 for a ne...

Re: 18MPG on my V6
As with all vehicles you will get best fuel economy at low revs in your top gear - ie. driving steadily on a flat road at around 50-60 mph. If you only get 18 mpg in this situation something is wrong. However, 18 mpg may be about right if you are doing some of the following, any of which will hammer...

Erratic Temp Gauge after fact sheet mod - Diesel
Tried the Temp Gauge mod as per the excellent fact sheet posted by Ben Bruce (short out the diode and add a 100 ohm resistor). On the first short drive everything was fine - FSD a bit high for my taste, but a smooth reading which rose as I drove uphill and dropped when coasting down as expected. On ...
