Well, just over a year since my last roof crisis ( http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=61581 ) I have a new one. Sad 'cause I tried very hard to give it regular "exercise" over the winter.
The initial problems were the same as before. With roof closed there is beeping but no ...

Re: Roof stuck down - seems to be dead motor/mechanism probl
Roof went up again OK this morning, but still one motor was very noisy.
I removed the noisy motor by removing the big plastic shell and then removing the three allen bolts. I oiled all the exposed parts and tried it. Motor ran quite nicely from a 12V power supply but squeeled when held in some ...

Re: Roof stuck down - seems to be dead motor/mechanism probl
I finally got around to looking at this again today.
My thought was "in for a penny, in for a pound" so I made a wiring harness to connect a battery directly to the "4 way plug". I included a 30A fuse so things were as safe as reasonably possible.
Disconnected the starter battery.

Re: Roof stuck down - seems to be dead motor/mechanism probl
Thanks John - I might try the "jiggling" direction approach. When it comes to removing the rails then I think I would call the pros.

Re: Roof stuck down - seems to be dead motor/mechanism probl
Yes - these are both good points.
Reving the engine is an easy and low-risk one to try.
I agree that if connecting the battery directly then I should use a fuse. Not sure I can be bothered to build the harness needed to do this.

Roof stuck down - seems to be dead motor/mechanism problem
Well the winter hasn't been kind to my roof. Took the Bongo camping this weekend and the roof wouldn't budge. Control system bleeps but no sound of motors running and no movement.
Been doing some fault-finding at home today. Story so far:
Handbrake switch is working
Control system is bleeping ...

Re: Cooling system diagram
Looks the same as mine

so I would say it's right. His colours are probably more useful than my red/blue which is too simplistic.

Re: Cooling system diagram
Would I be correct in thinking the following:
When the engine starts, the flow of coolant is:
THERMOSTAT CLOSED
engine/radiator/expansion tank/thermostat/engine (via thermostat bypass) – not sure where the turbocharger fits into this.
During this time, the radiator fans occasionally start ...

Inverter cable routing and installation advice
Folks,
I've got an inverter that I want to fit ready for the summer. I was thinking on doing it like DandyW - above the metal bar near the glove box like this:

Re: Fuel filter - further info!
I unbolted the filter housing and - gnnnuh, ggrrrrhuh, aaarrrgghhh - the filter still wouldn't budge. So I disconnected the inlet and outlet pipes from the housing too - very simple: use snub-nosed pliers to squeeze the clip sticky-out bits together to expand the clip (ok, obvious when you look at ...

Re: Pela Pump Problem
I used my Pela pump for the first time yesterday.
If you push the tube all the way in then it does seem to be possible to get the end to curl round the bottom of the sump and even to push up above the oil level again. I also managed to get a slight "catch" when pulling the tube out after doing this ...

Seems to be a common problem.
The part that's normally bust is the one called the "NE Sensor".
