Never seen one with a cover on, but it would make sense.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Hi, thanks for all the help. Just thought I would report that all is sorted. Japandirect based in Bury were the first to offer the part. We went there in person to pick it up. Good job we did. He had sourced the part from a 1997 bongo and the white plastic arm, was smaller on the replacement than ours, although both parts had the same part number stamped on them. We were able to get round this problem by swapping the arms over. If you need to do this, do not open the grey box, but on the back pressing with a screwdriver releases the arm. Thought peeps should be aware that the part may be slightly different for a new-shape bongo.
Would like to thank Adrian at Japandirect for all his help and for fitting the part. Gave us peace of mind mate, cheers.
