Coolant leaked...All gone!!

Post by bodiebongo2 » Mon Apr 06, 2015 1:48 pm

So I went to go out in my bongo this morning and noticed a large puddle Underneath and all the coolant had leaked out. There is a large metal pipe under the bongo and near to the drivers side there is a crack in the pipe. I do have a photo but not sure how to add. I am supposed to be going camping tomorrow. Is there any way I can patch up the crack? Is it a big job? Help please! !

Don't risk it. Get a replacement pipe and ensure the coolant is properly bled before driving it anywhere.

With a Bongo may not only the radiator you will loose ..

Being mid engined .. if the job is not done right and the system bled 110% correctly they are prone to air blockages in the cooling system .. you then have a very good chance of the engine overheating and cracking the head ..

What is this pipe? Coolant leak on 95 Bongo

Post by bodiebongo2 » Mon Apr 06, 2015 8:11 pm

This is a pic of my Bongo, the pic was taken underneath the drivers seat. All of the coolant has leaked out where it looks gunky near the clip. As you can see the pipe has also rusted. Does anyone know what the pipe is and how much it might cost to fix? The breakdown said to fill up the coolant with 4 litres of water and drive to my garage... not sure if this is wise?

don't drive it, get it picked up and taken to a bongo friendly garage.

Don't drive it.

If you are a handy DIYer carry on and fix the leak then bleed, otherwise its a flat bed to a Bongo Friendly garage.

Bloomin' pain when you're about to go away, but it needs fixing properly.

Not necessarily. I opted to have a complete new pipe but my mechanic Adrian usually fixes them by cutting out the bad bit and fitting a t-piece, which is much cheaper on parts and labour (though a system refill and bleed is still required)

They are available in the Bongo Shop and are called "Rear Heater Supply Pipe (Driver Side)". Price is £85 including postage and VAT, discount for club members.
