Auto gearbox identification plate

Post by wattg » Wed Oct 15, 2014 6:54 pm

I am currently sourcing a second hand gearbox for my 2.5 4x4 auto and have been asked to give them the ID number off a plate on the gearbox. But I can't find it. Can anyone help me with photos if poss as to where I will find this plate?

Can't see the reason for this as I thought they were all the same.

Someone will likely know more.

Too dark to crawl under Bongy I'm afraid.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

There should be a metal plate on the near side rear with the make and model (or at least there is on my 2WD V6). Later gearboxes are slightly different. Further reading: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... earbox.pdf

I seem to remember that you changed the box a few months ago, this box might have a different code to the original.do you still have the faulty box that you removed.

Ask the person that you are dealing with if the VIN will be sufficient.

Good Luck.
