Sound like it triggers the doors to lock when the brake pedal is applied..?!! (I could be wrong.?)anucatone wrote:OK so I've bought the remote locking/burglar alarm kit Perros Huevos suggested.
The wiring for the remote locking and solenoid seems pretty straightforward. I can do that.
It's the burglar alarm that is bewildering, not helped by rubbish instructions in tiny print.
Basically there are 10 wires with diagarmatic instructions as follows:
Blue and white wires side by side, it simply says "acc on door trigger". Don't understand.
Next an orange one which appears to go to brake lamp wiring, or at least to a diagram which shows a brake pedal, a lamp and +12v power supply. What's the brake pedal got to do with a burglar alarm?
Single brown wire splits into two to go to indicator lamps. Makes sense. They'll flash when activating alarm.
Yellow one goes into a whole diagrammatic world of gibberish entitled "center lock", the only bits I can make out being "starter, "relay", "cut", "key on" and "key +12V" with green and white wires. I'm assuming this all relates to a 4 pin plug and socket with two green, a yellow and white wires exiting from it. The socket has an anchor hole on it where you presumably bolt it securely somewhere convenient. I have no idea what this is for. It came in the box but is referred to nowhere.
blue/black wire goes nowhere
Red into 12v power supply- ok understood.
Black and pink into siren. Both to one terminal? The siren itself has two wires; a black earth with anchor point and a red one.
A red one going to +12v power supply. understood.
The other question is where does all this connect to the vehicle electrics? On the back side of the drivers side fusebox? Or, assuming I put the control box in the door cavity do I have to route these (quite short) wires through the black door pillar loom and somewhere into the engine? Or do all the relevant vehicle wires conveniently pass through the driver's door anyway?
As you can guess from my ignorance I haven't actually started on this yet (not even got the door panel off), and won't for a few days, so it's not a matter of urgency. I have scoured this website and tried to find wire by wire instructions but can't see them. So if anyone can remember installing one of these recently...
I had similar on my alarm.. (A different type.) Annoying & made me jump!! I put it to a momentary switch in the end, like a panic button...? My doors lock down & my windows roll up if open..
