Problem solved ( I Hope ). Simply followed the hand book. Ignition on,Glow plug symbol off accelerator fully depressed engine starts then apply heater switch. Hi and thanks for ur advice. my bongo is a 96/97 2.5 TD AFT 4wheel drive Diesel.Auto.

cold weather starting
Whats the best procedure for cold starting a 2;5 turbo diesel.my motor starts ok and idles at around 800rpm but it wont rev above 3000rpm. Just wondering if its finger trouble before i start ripping covers off

Filter has not been changed .Do not use veg fuel only prem diesel.idle and temp normal.Thanks for your assistance.TS

POST COLD START PROBLEM
started the bongo up today after standing for a few days.Starts under normal cold starting procedure and idols as normal.Problem is wont get above 3000RPM? Its a 96 2,5 TD 4 wheel drive AFT.Any ideas please?

On mine it had a clip on the right side as you look at it from the drivers door ,that needs to be depressed whilst pulling apart.similar to all plastic electrical connectors that are used in the Bongo.

System checked by local garage.Pinned it down to shot water pump.Pump changed all seems good.

simple when you know how.Connection under steering cowl disconected.NO BEEPING DOORS!! But still have lights on and reverse beeps PERFIKT.Thanks for the info.

Yes on further investigation the A/C compressor is siezed like a good en.Garage says most imports are shipped with the coolant drained.Depending on the honesty / Sorry the professionalism of the vendor who swears a cambelt and full service had been carried out .I do wonder how they missed not only ...

Cant see that number on the diagram! On the rear of the engine cover between the two front seats the panel is covered by carpet but has a number of bolt heads visible,

Inside the Bongo you have your engine L & R access pannels. On the rear of the cowling is a plate held by 10 bolts or so.
Is this an upper access to the rear of the engine?
