New Ford Freda owner trying to figure out best place for parts

Post by Ironbrewer » Fri Aug 23, 2024 5:02 pm

Hello I'm from the US and just got a 1995 Ford Freda with the pop top. It has about 168 Km on it and seems to run great. It had all fresh fluids in it. It has had the Timing belt, water pump, fuel pump and radiator all replaced in the last 3 thousand miles. I'm trying to figure out how to get parts for the beast. Mainly just consumables like oil filter etc.

Oil filters seem pretty easy, but Air filters seem to be a pain in the bottom. Is Amayama a good place to get parts? I found air filters there and at Yoshi parts.

Is either company preferred, and should I get genuine mazda part if possible or is Nitto or Pitwork ok. Genuine at Amayama would be about $25 US more expensive, and Yoshi would be even more than that.

Anyway Thanks in advance for any info.

Wish me luck on my new adventure with my Bongo!!

Welcome aboard!

In the UK we have a number of suppliers who handle Friendee/Freda spares but I suspect not many of them will want to supply to the US due to customs charges etc. Otherwise the global suppliers can be OK it seems provided the postage/transport costs can be made acceptable by buying a number of spares together to help reduce the costs!

I'll attach the list of suppliers over here we use, but I suspect that they will have similar transport costs;
These companies do a range of spares, not all will have everything so try them all;
For smaller parts its probably best to ring companies as not all the smaller parts make it on to the web sites!

I would guess because many desirable JDM's are now past the 25 year mark so they can be imported to the USA.

I would also be interested in an english language downloadable or paper owners and service manual for a 1995 Ford Freda/ Mazda \Bongo Friendee with the 2.5 liter diesel.

You won't find pdf versions of the manuals as the publishers are highly protective of their copywrite. But you can get paper copies via Bongoland at https://bongoland.co.uk/product-category/manuals/. Email first to establish postage costs.
