Airlock
I have late 1999 V6 Bongo and recently had the coolant changed but after a short while the front heater stopped working.I think there is an airlock in the heater coil can anyone tell me how access and bleed this item.

There's about 3 Youtube videos, plus a Fact Sheet in the Member's area.
Bleeding is vital.

Re: Airlock
That's right, you must bleed the V6 as you would a diesel engine. I believe only the 2.0 is self-bleeding.
Re: Airlock
I have seen the video,s on how to bleed the coolant system and this would have been fine on my first bongo,a diesel.
however they do no apply to my present Bongo. Its V6 Petrol engine and there is no bleed tube therefor I can only surmise that this is a self bleeding system. It is 1999 V6 petrol engine with a autogas conversion,(it is a special edition
but I can nott see that making any difference to the cooling system) Regards Eric

Re: Airlock
I suspect if it doesn't have a bleed tube it should have.
Only the 2ltr is self bleeding.

The bleed pipe can be seen here running top left to bottom right with the bung in the end. If you don't have one, you should have:

Re: Airlock
Hi Folks.Ifound the airbleed tube(it was under all the pipes and other equipement that constitute the autogas conversion equipement ) My heater is now working but is not seeming to put out as much heat as it used to,
I have been told that in some vehicles the heater will not work unless the aircon is fully charged, can anybody tell me if this applies to the Bongo. Also is there a valve or solenoid in the heater supply line and if so where.
Best Regards Eric

Re: Airlock
no
it might help if you back flush it as they can become blocked
you might be surprised at the crud in it

Re: Airlock
Owing to the fact that the thermostat controls the engine temperature I would think its worth investigating, it also determines the heater function.
These vehicles do not have any heater water control valves its a full flow constant system.

Re: Airlock
The heater system bypasses the thermostat.
