Sliding Door Mech

Post by Observer » Wed Jan 23, 2013 1:51 pm

The other day my wife found that the sliding door was stuck due to frost (4-30 a.m) So, needing to get at her work kit she gave the exterior handle a real good yank  fine girl you are =D> =D> this resulted in the plastic handle becoming sort of flappy IYSWIM. Today, following instuctions in the members area on Fury, I removed the door card and inside hande and this is what I found :-

To the right of a black plastic box, is a stout lever about 3/16" thick and less than 6" long this has a threaded portion and has a special nylon nut screrwed on which has broken away (I can see an area of jagged nylon) from it's connecting part which is above and just out of sight and would be behind the exterior plastic handle.

Does anyone know if there are any spares availablle for the door mech - it looks like I could unscrew the nylon nut, replace it and then recconect it to the upper part.

Thanks in aticipation :)

You can find the part numbers here:

http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html

Armed with that info you can order via Mazda or, if a member, via the club.

Thanks Ian I've been studying this most of the morning I just can't seem to identify the particular lever which has the special nylon nut attached - You can see it in my picture, It's the 'dogs leg' shaped piece (top right in the pic) the special nut is still screwed on but it should be attached further up and would then be out of sight.
Unless maybe there is another Lush diagram which shows all of the levers and rods.

I've marked the threaded nylon part I need with an arrow, can anybody can tell me the part number from the link above please? I can see a 'dogs leg' rod in the diag but it seems to point towards the plastic push/pull knob on the window ledge.

I must admit I studied it and couldn't identify it either :-(

This is like 'where's Wally' but slightly less fun :). I think the dog leg rod is shown in the bottom left box and is nearest Z. This rod then joins into the clip listed as:

G03076448 76448A CLIP RSV, ?°??°?U°??O° A?

Maybe the option do is look up into the top of the door to identify where the broken bit is and then figure it back from that part.

I can feel a small hole about 1/4" dia in the piece which I think might be the lever on the back of the door handle.

I've looked at the part you mention and thought maybe the dog leg bit has been chopped for the sake of the diagram. I will have a go at removing the exterior door handle and see what is on the inside. Has anyone ever managed this?

Thanks everybody for help so far
