LED AFT roof light

Post by llitvack » Fri Jan 18, 2013 11:16 am

Hi folks.

Following on from http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 44&t=39610

I'd like to know if anyone can help with a choice of a 48-LED WHITE roof light for the interior of the AFT?

The current choices on FleaBay are viewable at

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=4 ... &_from=R40

Does anyone know what size of LED panel will fit?

Many thanks.

There are at least two types of Fluorescent tube light used in the bongo, your better off opening it up and measuring what will fit inside, bearing in mind that you will have to do away with the inverter that powers the existing light, and reconnect it direct to the 12 volts.

Geoff: the light I mean is the dome light in the AFT roof, behind the skylight -- not the fluorescent tube.

Ah right, yes you did say AFT, had my eyes half on the snow as it drifts down here!

I found the 48 LED panels were a too bright when sleeping in the AFT as they were quite near my head so I put these in

though they might have been smaller than 39mm - you will need to measure your existing.

They still give a lot of light but you won't need 8)

I replaced all the interior lights with the LED equivalent and it is plenty bright enough inside for me.

Thanks for your replies, folks.
Now, does anyone have any advice/caveats for removing the plastic cover for that light?
Cheers!

Please may i slightly hijack this slightly in order to stop an 'almost' duplicate thread.

Ive been looking at this as well - the older locked thread has dead links so just want to make sure looking at correct lights

For cab lights? (x2):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/36-LED-Xenon- ... 53f3794d74

For rear light (on side by tailgate)?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24-LED-CAR-IN ... 41700aeb99

For AFT Light?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/48-LED-WHITE- ... 41700aec7e

Pain them not being buy it now auctions - ordering multiples not possible either

The main fluorescent will need some chopping i bleieve to fit LED's?

Cheers

For information I have just bid on the tailgate one and set a maximum bid of 7.51, I don't know what they normally go for but it is at £3.21 and with me.

Cheers I probably won't win it then as it usually all happens in the least few minutes.
, just didn't want anyone bidding against me that was going to drop out at less than my Max Bid :) I guess they relist them over and over?

Might be worth asking seller if they have a Buy It Now price for the next one.

I have led cab lights. When they start to fail, they flicker. Also, their light is bluish and cold. Personally, and for the amount of time the AFT light spends on, I prefer the warm and good light the standard bulb gives.

Oh God, I didn't bother measuring mine and they are 10mm shorter. And I ordered double by mistake. should be easy and fun to make an adaptor! Got 3 spare , 3 squid posted each, or 2.50 collected delivered 3miles R BS4. Incidentally, are they polarity dependant?
