Temperature Gauge
Hello
I'm new to this site, please can anyone help. My problem is my temperature gauge has stopped working, this has just happened, we have had the van since August and all has worked lovely until now! The heater works and it doesn't appear to be overheating. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, Rick

Re: Temperature Gauge
if its a diesel lift the drivers seat up then look at the front end of the engine. look for a single wire coming over the front end of the rocker cover, it sounds like its come off the top of the sender or the sender top has broken off. clean it up carefully and put it back on.
the gauge itself doesnt usually give much trouble, unless someones wired something in behind the dash like a speedo chip etc.

Re: Temperature Gauge
Thanks for your reply, the van is a V6 Petrol, shall I follow the same procedure as you suggest for this.

Re: Temperature Gauge
simon or geoff will know better where the sender is on a v6 but as i recall its right at the front of the engine on the top of the stat housing, and you have to reach under to get to it. this makes it even more likely to be damaged by water etc, but the guys will put you right.
the gauge is the same.

Re: Temperature Gauge
At the top front of the engine is an alloy manifold that feed the two heads. If you follow the bleed pipe under the passengers seat inspection hatch, it the part the pipe comes from. You will see a wire that goes to the brass coloured sensor. If you squeeze and wiggle the connector it should disconnect from the sensor. Give lug a little clean up with some fine sandpaper to remove any oxidisation. Reconnect it and see how it goes.
Re: Temperature Gauge
If it helps here are the mechanical diagrams the sensor itself is 18-840C http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... no=.html#9
and the manifold it fits in is 15-17Z http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... 2of02.html

Thanks for all your help. Rick.
Re: Temperature Gauge
Sorry to jump in but I have the same on my 2 litre petrol. Which side should I be looking in? Driver or passenger?
Thanks!

On the 2 l see 18-840 here http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... no=.html#9
and that part appears, to me, to be on the drivers side 10-180 http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html
