'O' rings on air con..?

Post by Dr Fingers » Mon Jul 02, 2012 2:59 pm

Can anyone enlighten me? What size 'O' rings are used on the two condenser units? Apparently there are upto 40 + possible sizes that they might be :shock:

Many thanks

There appear to be 3 sizes used in all;

if you use a google search on the part number (first column in the table) you sometimes get lucky and get sizes!

They are easily obtainable. I have a couple in stock and can get hold of the others. The ones I have in stock are 61-J1XA & 76-754E. These are the most commonly requested ones and can be found on this page:

Another solution is http://cpc.farnell.com/rolson-tools/612 ... lson+61225 which at £6.55+P&P (wait for a free weekend P&P offer!) and you have a good range of possible sizes at low cost!

Send him an email [email protected] - he often has his PMs turned off, so that he can get some peace :lol:

When I changed mine, the aircon specialist I saw said you had to use special ones designed to withstand the pressure and the chemical reaction with the refrigerant, so it may be that these would not be suitable.

Thanks, but it's the sizes that I'm trying to find out. Tried a couple of sites, but get messages back saying part numbers not recognised.. :?

Hi,

Got exactly this problem right now on the rear unit - I kept the old o-rings and placed them nice and safe on the window sill for reference when ordering new ones - but they've dissappeared. I have pushed some blue-tac onto the pipes to get an idea of size (dont have it with me for measuring) but after some extensive googling found this site: http://www.altecweb.co.uk/home.asp?rf=ggl&cat=RangeB05 which is a bit cheaper than this: http://www.autoairparts.co.uk/mazda-o-r ... 7097-p.asp

.. one thing I'm not sure of is whether they are nitrile or not.. they do/did look sort of shiny like the nitrile ones in the pictures (not green).

I did try and pull the o-rings out of the connections for the funny valve thing on the old aircon rear matrix but they were different sizes. I'm going to order some from one of the sites above - if I get a selection I will hopefully hit the jackpot.. and report back here! (this has come up a few times!)

cheers,

Steve

On mine, I removed the original black ones and replaced with the green ones. Somewhere, in a envelope in a really safe place, I do have the ones I removed, but I'm damned if I can find it right now. Will try to have a rummage tomorrow if time allows.
