Post by brianwfl » Wed Mar 07, 2012 12:50 pm

Hi ther, my drivers side door mirror is not extending/retracting the motor runs but will not switch off unless slight pressurure applied then will shut off any ideas gratefully accepted.

Is there slight play (about an inch) in aforementioned mirror, when opened out??

Thanks for replies, mirror has not been clumped operated normally previously. parked o/night mirrors retracted. About 1/2 inch play. sounded like cogs jumped at tooth or cogs partially stripped.

thanks again]

There is a plastic spline on the (last?) cog in the gear mechanism to the drive from the motor. All the rest are metal but this one is plastic & part of the plastic moulding that houses the gears... Circled in red.. Its the weakest point.

This is the top part to the motor housing??

I fear it may have sheared loose...? I could be wrong..??!! But, if the mirror don't move & all you get is a whirring click click click..? :|
