My Willinton Split Charger

Post by Bully bongo » Thu Feb 03, 2011 11:07 am

Hi everyone.A querry with my split charger.Everything appears to be working ok,but last nite i was under the bonnet and i saw a small LED light next to the fuses was on, on my split charger. It has been fitted for round about 6 months and i have never noticed this before. When i checked this morning it was off.Does anyone know if this is normal or is it indicating a problem. Many thanks again

The small green led on the relay box indicates the charging circuit is in operation - engine running.

My wee light was on constantly with the ignition off and I ended up sending it back to Willington as the relay was buggered - To form, he fitted a new one without quibble and all was well once again :D

Drop Willington a line and that should solve your prob.

Hi there the light is on when engine is running and stops on for a bit when ignition is off.E-mailed willinton to see what the crack is.Voltage and that is fine.Just tried the engine on and off and the light went straight out. :? . I wonder if it could be holding a bit charge  .I charged my battery at the beginning of the week and it seems to have started to do this then. Thanks for the replies.

Could be wrong, but I was always under the impression that when the starter battery reaches a certain voltage, due to the engine starting/alternator, the Willinton relay clicks on (green light comes on) and the leisure battery starts charging. When the engine is switched off, it takes a bit of time for the starter battery to come down to below the voltage of what it need to be to charge the LB, hence why the green light stays on for a while after ignition is switched off.

Cheers
