This question has been asked a few times recently (prob due to the weather and salt ). If you use waxoyl and underseal to 'search' you get some discussions that may be useful to you. I did the same as Andy but with an outfit near to me. BUT, if money is tight, I think it is possible to get a perfectly good done in plain waxoyl if you can find a respectable outfit to do it for your. Key aspects are thorough cleaning off, thorough drying, making relevant body parts are removed for good access to interior, using a good lance sprayer to get into distan recesses. Finally, with waxoyl I'm advised you need to have it redone annually in external areas prone to abrasion from road spray and grit, and this is an annual cost of around £50 (though I think you could DIY it) and an inconvenience. You might get a good garage job done for £200-£250 or thereabouts being realisitic and depending which part of UK you are in (some peeps - in the North? - have had good jobs done much cheaper than that but I wouldn't expect it as the norm)apole wrote:Hi there,

If it looks like bare / zinc plated looking metal on the floor pans etc. underneath, probably with some surface rust on it, then it most likely hasn't been done anywhere, as those are the easiest areas to impress a customer by doing even though they are not the most important. However, even if that area is done, waxoyling is a job that - done well - requires diligence and time (prepping, drying off prior to spraying, getting iinto nooks and crannies). If it's been waxoyled you'll be able to see/feel the waxy coating, not bare metal. As you're on a ramp you'll find it easy to see exactly where it's been done... I have seen some that thought they had a full waxoyl but have just been waxoyled at the edges, about as much as you'd see/feel when kneeling down.I was told it's been wax oiled, I'm not sure if they have done it at all, how would I check
