no ABS Light!
hi,
My van does not have a lit up abs light on the dash, this has never been there since i got my bongo 2 years ago and now its an issue with the MOT. Just a bulb in the dash or something more sinister?
cheers

Re: no ABS Light!
Are you sure you have ABS? not all do.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: no ABS Light!
yep, when i was looking at buying a Bongo it seemed prior to around 97/98 it was an option or just not fitted.

Re: no ABS Light!
Check whether it's got a fuse & connections in the appropriate fuse holder, diagram is in the factsheets in the members area.

cheers for the advice, i will have a look at the van later, the man at the garage seemed very sure that it had ABS when i had the MOT done, so apparently it does have ABS.... hmmmm
Re: no ABS Light!
just had a look at the van and there is an ABS fuse! does this mean it could be a light on the dash for the light of a failure of the ABS?

Re: no ABS Light!
Could be the bulb's gone, or it was removed because there's a problem & the ABS light wasn't going out?

Yep, 4 screws holding in the binnacle surround, drop the steering wheel to its lowest adjustment & firkle the surround out then 4 screws holding in the console, you will probably have to unplug the ribbon cables (carefully).

Re: no ABS Light!
dashboard out and back in, no probs. However after swapping a few bulbs about, it is prob the worst result :0( no bulb in the ABS slot and now the light is not going out....does this mean an expensive fault on the ABS?
Re: no ABS Light!
That is the usual reason for the ABS bulb to be missing.................nattydread wrote:dashboard out and back in, no probs. However after swapping a few bulbs about, it is prob the worst result :0( no bulb in the ABS slot and now the light is not going out....does this mean an expensive fault on the ABS?

Re: no ABS Light!
whats best to do now? the local garage said its machine would not fit into the cables under the glove box so they could not work out the problem?

Re: no ABS Light!
Problem often is a broken sensor wire going to the pickup at the wheels. All you need is an ohmeter and check for continuity at each sensor - you won't do any harm to the system.
