Funny squeaking noise
I know this is tricky without hearing the actual noise but, when my Bongo is cold and I drive off it squeaks in first and second. The squeak stops if I back off the accelerator and goes away when it warms up. I thought it might be the turbo and checked pipes etc and revved it up when stationary, no noise. Possibly also gearbox? Sounds like a higher pitched version of a loose fan belt. Any suggestions to solve this are welcome!!

What can I say? I have only half a stud there!!! I am humbled by your expert diagnosis...(both of you) would I be right in thinking that it will be a fiddly job to get the stud out & replace?

I drilled into the stud flooded it with WD 40 used a stud extractor and Bobs your Uncle. But!!! this was with the head off, I don't know if the un threaded part in the middle would actually come through the manifold. but it did come out easily, and you don't have to worry about drilling into the head, as the hole is open ended. Cheers Tom
In my case it was a waste of time, because on very close examination , the head was cracked. Incidently a cowboy garage replaced the head gasket on my Bongo, supposedly sent it for a skim, and yet when things started going wrong again, I noticed the broken stud, and we had been wondering where the mouse was. As it happened, it was a rat and he wasn't under the seat. Cheers Tom
