I did check mine today, and this little valve is actually the idle screw.
Mine was also filled with soot, so I cleaned it. I didn't have the opportunity to check if my problem was gone, I'll do it ASAP. I hope it will, though, I really don't know how it could, as it's just an idle valve :roll:
so if I still have the problem, I'll clean the Throttle Body too [-o<

The TPS is a potentiometer which feeds back to the ECU the the throttle position see 18-9101;

There is a separate Air Adjusting Screw but accessed from the drivers side as I recall at the back of the engine.

Yes, thanks, I know them, but I don't understand why you're posting this now.
As I'm experiencing EXACTLY the same problem as sp2cpss , I expect the solution will be the same too :D

So, I cleaned this valve, which is an idle adjustment screw,
I cleaned the Throttle Body, even if it wasn't any dirty.
I also replaced the 6 sparking plugs.

And there's no change at all. Exactly as before. Same problems and same fault codes.

I will, as I planned in the first place, replace the MAF sensor, as I think it may be a good culprit.
I would replace or at least remove check and clean the TPS too.
And I'll see what happen next.

When I replaced the sparking plugs, there was one that was noticeably darker than the 5 others. So I suspect this too for the lack of power, but I don't see how it could affect the high fuel consumption. The wire looks ok. But I may check the distributor too and see what's inside.
