ECU Wiring diagram 2001 V6 AFT
Having trouble getting my 2001 V6 AFT fixed after it lost power and won't turn over. No power/signal getting to the spark plugs. Does anyone have a wiring diagram from the ECU? There is an "amplifier" between the ignition and spark plugs that may be the problem according to the garage... All ideas welcome

If you have the normal distributor system then the diagram below relates;

Thanks Geoff, I’ve sent on to the garage.
Do you know what the component is the “amplifier” component is that I mentioned?
Also, they’ve hypothesized that it could be the crank position sensor that’s causing it not to start. Any clue on the likely hood of that?
Appreciate the help.
Mike

Yes the Crank position sensor is a quite common failure spares available on ebay.
The Igniter is the transistor that switches the current on/off, this current is then "amplified" in the coil/transformer which creates the spark to be sent to the distributor

Thanks Geoff,
I'll send this info on to the garage and may be back in touch. Cheers.

The issue turned out to be a mechanical one. Snapped timing belt. Apparently I may need to be looking at a new engine if extra damage has occurred. Has anyone had this happen to them? If so what was the outcome?
I'm hopeful that it won't be needed but any good links for finding a new V6 engine in the Manchester area would be great.
Thanks,
Michael

V6 is a clearance engine so just a snapped belt won't be a problem.
Only time damage has been reported is when a valve rod snapped and jammed in the cylinder which lead to the cambelt snapping, but that is normally accompanied by sound effects immediately before the engine stops!

Oh good! There was no obvious noise at breakdown so fingers crossed.
Thanks for the info Geoff, I'll let you know how I get on.

Just spoke with the garage and they are having a hard time locating a timing belt kit. Does anyone know where I could get one and the belt/engine that they could look for?
Thanks,
Michael

Ian does them in the Bongo Shop, but he’s away for a week.

Edit: For a complete engine Bongo Spares are a good bet, they will also likely have a belt kit, and not stupid far from you.

Thanks Bob.
Bongo Spares have one in!
