hi dont for get japan has got the sea around it ? this rust was probally caused by salt water ? to fix it cut the panel out, replace from a breaker ?

YEP!! mine was not quite that bad but by the time it had been all cut out it wasn't far off. Anyway I cut it all out(and yes it had been bodged in Japan) had a new plate shaped and welded in, panel respray and bobs your uncle. Carefully checked all other bodywork and it's fine. Caused by mud build up behind the plastic thingy and never really drying out. Nearside is always worst co's thats where any mud is on minor roads. Cure!!! Go round the wheelarch edge with a wooden clothes peg after each winter. It's also the way they weld two seams of metal together with spot welds and a slight gap is left between the welds.

Well Mike I think my missus would batter me if I took her thru Tesco car wash like I do the bongo,she might like a good coat of Mer tho, you never know, brill stuff. Happy motoring.
