Reversing camera install

Post by ognob » Thu Feb 21, 2019 9:59 pm

Got a camera I’m probably going to mount by the number plate lights.

Any suggestions / tips on cable route recommendations to get it to the head unit

Thankyou

Much better view IMHO if mounted higher looking down, otherwise you lose depth perspective, I mount mine on the highlevel brake light.

I put mine above number plate. Keeps it out of the rain. Cable can go through existing hole behind number plate. Feed it up through tail gate and through the flexi rubber thing with the other cables. Now feed cable to front behind passenger side trim up at roof level. You can just tuck it in without removing anything. You can hide it under passenger door seal and then you’re able to pass it under dash to head unit.

Mine was routed through the high-level brake light and along the head lining I made a pod to hold a 7" screen by the rear view mirror
If I was doing another I would mount two cameras one facing the floor for parking and one facing backwards, the modern screens easily toggle between the two
