Rear wheel spin and noises from 4x4 Bongo

Post by jaycey001 » Fri Dec 14, 2018 2:47 pm

Hi all

Off to Devon tomorrow from Suffolk in our Bongo. I have noticed that when the van is on full lock there is a "slipping" feeling from the rear wheels, and its not too difficult to spin the rear wheels when accelerating out from a stand still. Well, it feels like its a wheel spin but may not be.
Its also intermittent and more noticeable on uneven or loose ground.

I suppose this could be the VC playing up, but my main question is will I be causing any long term damage by driving several hundred miles over the next week?

I have 4 new tyres of the correct size for front and rear wheels and its a 4x4 auto 98 with about 90k on the clock.

Many Thanks
James

The VC only affects the drive to the front wheels (assuming it hasn't failed of course). If there is a fault - not sure there is - then it sounds more like a rear differential problem, maybe you have a Limited Slip Diff. (LSD) which is an option and can be checked by looking for a yellow sticker on the casing ? Might be worth putting your VIN into the production database and see what it was originally fitted with see here http://mazda.epcdata.ru/
