Switch Blanks
Switch Blanks
Hi, I've bought a Haydn alarm which I'll fit ASAP. I'd like to put the LED in one of the rocker switch blanks - probably the one to the right of the front fog lamps switch. But, how do you remove the blank? It moves slightly and probably just unclips but I didn't want to force it and break something. Thanks.

But wait and see what others say.

Usually just a few barbs that catch on the frame work holding it in place.

A really adventurous place to put the led is in the right hand dial next to the temp gauge. need to remove main display and a bit of drilling. in mine, as observed from rear there were obvious places. sorry but unable to source pictures.

That's where i put mine and v neat it is too. Not especially difficult but sharp drill bits and care needed drilling through the panel so as not to crack the thin brittle plastic.the1andonly wrote:A really adventurous place to put the led is in the right hand dial next to the temp gauge. need to remove main display and a bit of drilling. in mine, as observed from rear there were obvious places. sorry but unable to source pictures.

Re: Switch Blanks
I've removed hundreds of switch blanks whilst fitting the alarm LEDs... I just get a medium screwdriver and lever at the of the switch top till it 'pops' out then do the same at the bottom. I guess 50 % of the time the switch blank gets damaged but never badly enough that they carnt be used. It's the small lugs at the back that break and there are always enough left to refit the blank and once refitted no one will ever know.
Top Tip :- just go for it.
