ECU

Post by psquiddy » Thu Feb 16, 2017 4:44 pm

Does anyone know what the code numbers on the ECU mean?

I have a 2002 2.0l petrol that needs a new ECU but I am told that it needs a specific one that matches the numbers shown below and we cant find one that has anything like the same numbers/letters.

What's your chassis number? (It's on the metal plate on the passenger door pillar)

The ECU you require is Mazda part number FF4918881B, which is indicated on the photo you posted. These are not available in the UK but are available from Japan. I have not done a formal price & availability check as it depends on currency fluctuations but it will be in the region if £1,300 plus VAT plus postage plus customs fees.

Try your local friendly Mazda dealer as you will avoid the customs fees and shipping from Japan, but it may take a while.

If that doesn't work I can get one for you in 2 weeks.

There are companies out there that repair ECUs and such like, run a Google search.
Have you tried a search through the old posts too?
Unrelated but any chance of an image of the plug side?

There are loads of breakers around. I deffo would not be paying £1300 quid. Try here they have loads apparently for all models at £150

Interesting. I couldn't spot Bongo in their catalogue but i wonder if that matters. Hopefully they can handle non catalogue items.

Has anyone got an old knackered 2.0ltr Bongo ECU ?
I would be happy to pay a tenner or so and of course the P&P.

Make sure you get the right one. There are 5 different variants on the ECU for the 2 litre, Make sure the one you obtain is FF4918881B.

There was a start to working out the diesel ECU a while back, the results to the point where he ran out of time are linked here http://www.g8dhe.net/bongo_images/Bongo ... inoman.zip
There were various threads have a look at the posts from rhinoman, problem with searching is terms have to be more than 3 characters which makes hunting for TLA's a problem!
