Sliding Door Not Shutting Fully

Post by richmab » Wed Jan 11, 2017 8:31 pm

Hi,

The sliding door on my Bongo does close properly. It used to pull right in. However, now it barely moves inwards at all. I can hear the motor noise and it still lock and does not leak. It just looks odd as it is not fully closed.

Any ideas please?

Thanks,

Rich.

Warm welcome to BF. :D

Are you pulling it forwards firmly enough?

If it doesn't come far enough forward manualy the motor runs but it won't shut.

Hope that helps, and others will have some ideas. :)

first i would clean the little silver contacts on the door pillar and on the door, these work the motor/mechanism, if the door contacts are touching initially and the door is part closing, then as the door tries to fully shut the contact is lost it may not pull the door fully closed. you could try a gentle help by leaning on it if its just the back end is sticking out a bit.
or.
if someone has thrown open the door you can strain the roller carriers, so the carrier/s are bent out slightly, it may need adjusting, this is done by slackening the mounting bolts on each of the 3 rollers carriers.BUT be carefull it is quite difficult to get the door sitting square and properly fitted and may need several attempts and several people to hold the door weight while you loosen/tighten the bolts.
or.
try oiling the the door mounts, they have a pivot point like a hinge with rollers fitted to one end.

If the door locks with the soft close ,and the door does not infill all round, I would check the roller/carrier mechanisms.

I had a similar issue when I picked up my bongo from JAL. It was adjusted by Dave in Worcester, but not fixed. Allan had a go too. It's better than it was, but it's still not completely fixed.

I've learned to live with it!
