Back door and catch
Back door and catch
I am looking at a bongo to buy and the seller has warned me to be careful with the back door. 'dont slam' etc as they've had problems with the catch. Is this a common problem, has anyone heard of it? Can it be fixed. Seems pretty serious to me, back door opening while driving etc!
Re: Back door and catch
Not heard of any problems before ? The TinTop doesn't have an internal handle I believe as standard but people have retro-fitted them as the muntings points etc are all there.

I've never heard of that either.
Wonder if he's trying to shift a motor with problems.

Re: Back door and catch
I wonder if he's referring to the electric soft-close on the sliding door - i've heard they don't like being slammed though not heard any direct experience of it. When mechanism does play up (usually after battery disconnection) its usually proved to be inexpensive (if a bit fiddly) to fix.

No it was definitely the back/boot door

Re: Back door and catch
It might be worthwhile removing the trim and checking out the rear floor section for corrosion/rust, also the inner bottom of the tailgate.
It might also be worthwhile checking that the spare wheel mechanism is not overtightened as this can upset the catch/door adjustment.

Interesting . It is log converted, I wonder if putting the tank in the spare wheel cavity affected the door mechanism?

Nothing wrong with a log burner.
