VSR and fusebox on split charging loom

Hi folks

First-time poster so apologies for probably breaking all the rules. I did have a search for answers to this Q first, mind.

I've bought a Raynes Automotive split charging loom with VSR. As I'm a Bongo newbie I thought it might be reasonable to ask this fairly simple question:

Where is a good place to attach the plastic box housing the VSR? And same question about the little fusebox? No inappropriate suggestions of where to stick them etc please.

Would it be a bit rubbish to attach them using double-sided adhesive pads to some unoccupied bodywork under the bonnet? Don't really want to drill holes in metal just for this.

A very warm welcome to the forum.

I would not personally trust adhesive pads. Mine is attached in place of the blanking plate in the bulkhead for the manual clutch, because it was designed to do so. However it may be easy to make a similar bracket or plate up to mount your VSR and fuse panel. I'm sure members with first hand experience will be along.

Double sided tape isn't likely to last that long what with heat and water, quite often people will use self-tappers into the cabin air ducting, but often if you look closely you will find enough existing screws to mount the brackets on or there are several unused plastic stubs which can have bolts screwed in to them..

interesting Geoff. I changed my mind about posting a description of a friend's professionally converted Bongo with the VSR screwed in across the join in the ducting, such that the screws were obscured by the LB. 20 mins to get to the rad, instead of 2. Naughty converter!

Thanks folks. My VSR is just too small to screw into the holes under that clutch blanking plate in the bulkhead. But perhaps I could attach the boxes to said blanking plate and re-insert that. Will get in the shed and work something out.

Not sure about tapping screws into the ducting, it obviously crossed my mind but I have to say I didn't fancy it,

it says in the sales blurb that this kit is made to measure for the bongo, can you not lay it out as the fitting instructions say, then work backwards to a vsr mounting point, it may be fairly obvious.

Thanks Northern B, I inspected all of the documentation on their webby first but no suggestion of where to mount the VSR.

It's a minor problem, just wanted to know if others had ingenious solutions they were keen to share!
