Roof light

Post by B12ROCK » Tue May 31, 2016 6:08 pm

Hi, the light in my pop up roof isn't working, I've tried a new bulb but no luck. Everything else is working OK so the fuse should be OK. I've lent my multimeter to a mate so can't check for voltage, is there something I'm missing is there a microswitch to turn the light off with the roof down? Thanks in advance.

Hi, can you confirm that you are trying it with the roof up? It only works with the roof raised. I only recently discoved this!

Yes the switch has the earth removed when the lowered limit switches operate, needs to be open a few inches to allow the light to come on!

Yes I had the roof up, do we know where the earth is switched that sounds like the probable fault. Cheers

With most interior lights .. the light itself is wired live ..

The switch completes the circuit via the earth ..

ie: if it's the same as a door .. usually the wired plunger / metal plate / retaining screw ..

Yes its done by one of the limit switches as the roof comes down;

Its M2-06 which is the offside front limit switch, it takes the earth off the lamp and sends it to the computer to tell it to stop the motors along with the switch on the nearside.
