Well Guys FYI

I know they are not everyone's favourite but was passing anyway so I called into Halfords this afternoon. Bloke was well helpful, removed a bulb for comparison and they had some in stock.

£119.98, a receipt for the tax man and a three year guarantee, binding?

I purchased some H4 Osram Night breaker Unlimiteds recently (£13.50) as I was driving at night on country roads in my car and whilst I had full beam on most of the time the sat nav said there was a road I should turn down and at this point I had oncoming traffic so dipped my full beam and saw NOTHING! in the way of a turning off this country lane... not a very nice situation.. very poor headlamps.

Of course I had the obligatory BMW X5 behind with lights with similar lumen output to that of the sun beaming into the car and my mirror and blowing his horn because I hesitated for 0.5 seconds.(It does have spots built into a low front spoiler but I did not have them on as I thought it was illegal)

Anyway after 45mins trying to get one headlamp out of a 19 y.o. car (got to almost yanking stage, lol) I gave up thinking it was going to break the brittle plastic and I will have trouble finding a replacement headlamp. (aging MkI Chrysler) So I have the H4 Osrams NB-u spare, fortunately they fit the Bongo which took about 2 mins to change each bulb. The Bongo lights have always been better than the Neon but I look forwards to checking them out at night time they should be even better now.

After re-reading the instructions online on how to get the Chrysler bulbs out it seemed there was one extra bolt that was not easily accessible due to the install of the low front spoiler. I have since used a T-Cut lens restoration kit and it has helped a little. I think I will pop the spot lamps on next time it is probably safer than not seeing.

Sorry to hear your of your nightmare on dark street! I have had no problems with mine and the improvement was fantastic, still is. I also cleaned my lenses also last year which could only have helped the situation. As for the Obligatory beamer, If it was not a beamer it would have been the Audi or Merc all of which seem to have lights that can strip paint from the car in front

Well yes & no

I use the Bongo for business so I paid it from the business account so in a way HMRC bought the bulbs?

Well it's £120 they can't tax me on Oh, and I have the receipt just in case!

The later Bongo have .. High Intensity Discharge (HID) Xenon Bulbs .. not normal H4 Halogen as the earlier versions ..

Very good they are too. I do want to change the high beam and sidelights now though as proper Zenons make the sidelights look really yellow and anemic.
