Re: My bongo has stopped starting
So I've checked the leisure battery and that is fully charged. I've checked all the fuses and they all look OK. Still no power internally (apart from fan heater) and still turns over but not starting
?

Re: My bongo has stopped starting
need to see if power is getting to the fuel pump solenoid. Does it come from the 15A fuse that is on the left hand side, second row of the fuses down by the steering wheel? I know its the black and white wire at the pump itself.

Re: My bongo has stopped starting
I think the ECU runs off one of the circuits that is usually transferred to the LB. If that is the case then no ECU may result in no starting. (I'm hypothesising, as I don't know for certain). So I'd work on getting power back to your interior lights, radio etc.
You've checked the fuses by your knee but there may be others!
Is there an inline fuse in the positive lead coming off the LB? If so check it.
There are probably fuses under the bonnet for the circuits transferred to the LB. These may be on the split charger or separate. If you aren't sure, posting photos of your LB wiring and split charger can help. Wherever they are, they should be checked.

Re: My bongo has stopped starting
Hello I'm at a bit of a loss. Does anyone know of a mobile mechanic in the Tamworth/ Midlands area?
Re: My bongo has stopped starting
Worth trying Dave at Worcester Mobile Machanics.
Near Shrub Hill Station and knows Bongos very well, but he does tend to be busy.

Re: My bongo has stopped starting
I've managed to get it started!!!
I was talking to a friend who mentioned the fuel pump and remembered the previous owner had fitted a Disabler to the fuel pump for security. It wasn't switch on but I thought if there was a problem with the electrics it might have stuck. I disconnected it and it started. However the electrics in side don't work still and now the glow plug light is flashing. Does anyone know why, could it have been triggered by a fuse going? I have also taken out the radio would this have triggered it?
Thanks for all who have helped me the last few days, I know my way around the engine a bit better now

Re: My bongo has stopped starting
Yes the ECU has a backup supply and if that fails it flags it as an error on the next startup, the fuse is the top right fuse or equivalent on the LB, its the permanent unswitched supply so is one of the first to be swung over to a LB supplying internal lights, central locking, backup supply to radio as well of course.

Re: My bongo has stopped starting
Thanks Geoff, yes all those have failed. I'm not very technical, so does that mean the fuse on the top right of the bank of fuses below the steering column needs replacing?
Re: My bongo has stopped starting
You disconnected a switch for the disabler as you say. Did you have to connect two wires together after that? The mind boggles....

Re: My bongo has stopped starting
The black fuel leads were connected to the red and black leads of the cut off leads by male and female connectors. I reconnected the black fuel pump leads. I haven't connected the red and black cut off leads as I thought I wouldn't need to. Do you think I should?
Re: My bongo has stopped starting
It needs looking at or its equivalent if you have a LB fitted, the chances are that yes its been blown by someone working on the engine with out disconnecting the batteries first!Quincy MD wrote:Thanks Geoff, yes all those have failed. no just leave it as is. the black are for the fuel pump so that is right. If you want to reinstate the 'security switch' you would put a switch in between the connection you made.
The red must have been someones way of switching and if you trace it you should get to the switch they installed. You can just leave it the way you have done if you want.

maybe when the radio was removed with power to it
