Faded headlamps - a solution
After trying various things pre-mot (they were an advisory last time round) I found that Autosol chrome polish does an excellent job, for the minimum of effort.

Well, it was the Autoglym chrome polish in the garage, but what a difference, should have done this ages ago.

I got the same result using Brasso. 5 mins rubbing then wiped off with a baby wipe, job done.

Follow up with a UV resistant car polish to slow down the fogging up.

Crystal Disc repair fluid is the daddy for the UV problem.

The "Range" DIY super store do a good headlight refurbishment kit amounts their car parts. That comes complete with a final application of UV/Protective coating. I've used it with good results.

I used 2000 grit wet and dry with a little washing up liquid in the water, brought them up like new.

Thanks.

Ok, here's another one I've just thought of: wood ash from the log burner. We use it on a damp sponge to clean the glazed doors of the woodstove, and it works a treat. Didn't think of it until after using the Autosol but will try it next time. And it's free.
