Turbo

Post by bongogreenride » Thu May 28, 2015 10:01 pm

When the old turbo was taken out of bongo, turbo was so knackered that it was not only using oil or allowing it to leak out, it had got oil in the intercooler. It is being left overnight to drain. Should I really put a new one on?

I can't see you need to replace the intercooler, but I'm sure someone more techie will help.

Thank you. Just wondered with it being full of oil, if draining would be enough.

They tend to get quite gunged up with oil anyway. If it were me, I would drain the worst out and then flush the rest out with a degreaser such as Gunk. It will be nearly impossible to buy a new Mazda one so your only option is to buy a used one which could be in a similar condition to yours.

theres a 3 inch black plastic pipe that goes round the back of the head round before the turbo, has that got oil in, if it has then the valve stem seals could be worn, or rings worn or the egr valve stuc.
