Post by lancyman » Sat May 16, 2015 10:50 am

Hi all

Van would not start this morning. Power in the battery but
it's dead and won't turn over. Dead as dead thing. Any idea

Thanks.

Do all the dash lights go dim when you try to start it? If so, it would indicate low battery voltage.

Check the big fuses under the bonnet especially the green 'main' fuse.

If the battery and connections are OK .. Maybe 'iffy' starter contacts .. give the starter motor a tap with an hammer .. may free them ..

the tell tale sign that it's starter solenoid contacts would be if it's ever just made a 'click' but not started first time...but then the next time you turn the key it starts fine and you think nothing of it...

if that's something you recognise, give the starter a tap as mentioned above to get things moved around a little inside..

The 100 amp main fuse has blow. Don't think that's it.
