Bongo leaking, possibly coolant

Post by magsharvey » Sat Jul 05, 2014 5:28 pm

Hi,

My Bongo has developed a small leak coming from a pipe which is located on the drivers side of the van and approximately half way between the front and rear wheels. The colour of the leaky stuff seems to be a blue-ish/green-ish tinge which would seem to rule out engine oil and brake fluid. Its slightly sticky and viscous. Its dripping from a joint in a pipe which is insulated.

I'm hoping there is a piccy link below.

I've just had the air-con checked and refilled. I can't imagine that is causing the problems as no leaks or loss of pressure were registered when the air-con was tested. But thought i'd mention it just in case!!!

Thanks

Air con I'm afraid it must be refrigerant you see.presume your coolant level has not dropped .it looks like your condenser connection
When was a/c tested for leaks.?

Thanks for that, I'd suspected as much with me just getting the air-con refilled. It hadn't been leaking before that so it seemed like the likely suspect. The a/c was checked for leaks with the gas when it was refilled and there was no pressure loss, so I thought all was tickety boo!!
the coolant levels have not dropped, I was keeping a close eye on that just in case.

Will this mean a large faff and large bill to mend the leaky connection?? If it is I may just do without the aircon!!

Thanks again for the reply :o)

If the leak is coming from the flange (O Ring) if might be worthwhile trying to nip it up.

Well, Millie Bongo is booked back in with the air con chaps for the end of the week. He is confident that its a perished seal and nothing more so here's hoping. Either that or just make do with open windows and a hot doggy in the back!!
