Service Code 26

Post by cookan » Mon Jun 16, 2014 12:26 pm

Hi guys,
been trying to diagnose a loss of power I've had recently...I'm hoping it was just gunge in the fuel strainer in the tank which I've now cleared, along with crud in the fuel filter which I'm now replaced..along with crud in the Banjo..which I've now cleared ;-)

ABout to take it out for a drive but thought I'd check for fault codes and have a code 26 which isn't in my service manual although http://www.philmcfadden.co.uk/MazdaDiagnosticBox.htm suggests it's a Solenoid Valve (Purge Control). I'm not sure if that website has the correct codes and wondered if anyone could confirm and explain what/where the valve is (or what it might be called in the service manual)...

It's a '95 automatice without cold start system..I've blanked the EGR with plates and am running on 50% WVO...

hopefully the banjo was the problem and I'll be able to make the Bash at the weekend..otherwise I'm a bit worried about the long drive given I couldn't get above 60 on Sat...off to test drive now...

hmm...actually I think I may have misread the code...when I turn the ign on..the hold light comes on for a while then goes off...I then get a Long Flash, followed by 2 short flashes then a pause....then a long flash followed by 6 short flashes....Is that a code 12 (TPS) and a code 16 (EGR) ?

I tried to clear the codes but it doesn't appear to clear them (so maybe a permanent fault ?)
Leaving the paper clip in the terminals, I disconnected the negative on both batteries then pressed the brake pedal for 20 seconds....when I reconnect the negatives and turn the ign on I get the codes again..

tested TPS at the ECU plug and it gives spot on what the service manual says...haven't done the EGR as I couldn't be bothered to take the tunnel off to get to the plug and it's blanked anyway...strange.

Car felt a little more spritely tho and no misfire above 4500..will have to see how it goes over the next few days..
