Locating a Particulate Filter
Hi,
Has anyone got a diagram as to where I can locate my EGR valve and Particulate Filter on a 1999 2.5TD?
I'm suspecting that mine need a good clean but am not sure where to find them!
Thanks
Marc

EGR valve can just be seen labelled 17 on this photo: http://mazdabongo.wikispaces.com/Parts
There is no DPF or cat fitted to diesel Bongos, so don't look too hard

17 is the nrv for the vac valve.
This is the EGR valve 20-300,just follow the pipe from the inlet manifold and you will find it.

Re: Locating a Particulate Filter

Glad I didn't spend too long looking!
In the majority of cases I flip the seat back, and just stare blankly at a muddle of metal, plastic and wires!

Off outside to try and get at the EGR Valve now.
I removed the pipe and gave that a good clean (there was a lot of build up in it).
The blanking plates have been removed, so hopefully with the EGR cleaned - I might have a happy engine again!

If it had blanking plates fitted it wouldn't have needed cleaning - that's what blanking plates are for, to remove the need for cleaning.
Re: Locating a Particulate Filter
I did have blanking plates fitted - but the ECU is still reporting issues with EGR airflow.
My mechanic advised to either clean or replace the EGR valve.
I've been out to have a look for it - and the lushprojects diagram looks different to my engine. I take it that was for the older style Bongo?
Mine is a 1999 fly-by wire (which is why it's proving such an expensive pain in the wotsit!)

Re: Locating a Particulate Filter
That is a problem when people fit blanking plates and don't decoke the pipes and manifold.
Does this help....

Re: Locating a Particulate Filter
Thanks teenmal.
I'm still struggling to see it.
I assume it's not showing in the 3 photos I posted?
If I'm viewing the diagram correctly it should be on the right (dashboard end) of the EGR pipe...
All that appears to be connected to is the metal elbow to the inlet pipe.
Should I then be looking at the other end of the EGR pipe? Although that looks to be very difficult to get to.

Re: Locating a Particulate Filter
Yes other end. Taking off the top engine panel cover will give you better access.
