Overheated
Took our mazda bongo to a local bongo friendly garage on friday to have a fuel leak sorted, all the coolant hoses replaced and a service.
Picked it up friday and drove home 5 miles stop start traffic no problems.
Took it out yesterday and within a mile the temp gauge started rising limped home and there is no coolant in the expansion tank, plus it's still leaking fuel.
Now when i phone the garage up what should i be looking at them doing to resolve this?
My problem is the engine is aluminium so overheating often leads to cracked heads also i don't want to start/drive it to the garage as there could be a airlock and lead to more damamge to the engine.
What really Kisses me off is we decided to replace all the rubber hoses to prevent it overheating and that's what happened. frown

Re: Bugger overheated
They are obliged to collect veh (as you will tell them it can't be driven)and you are wanting these faults rectified at no cost as you paid in good faith to have it repaired ,it's now come out in a worse state than it was! Sounds like they've not bled the coolant system correctly if there are no visible coolant leakages, fuel side of things what did they do to (rectify)fuel loss as it seams they ain't sorted.if they had gave it a good test after they sorted these faults may have been obvious to them! Did you take a note or or the invoice is there a mileage in and mileage out?

Re the fuel leak the injector was rebuilt 2 years ago, had a fuel leak oct and was diagnosed as split hose , and the latest leak was supposed to be split hose again.
Re bleeding this garage are quite well known here for being bongo savy so presumed they know what there doing, and it was the garage which suggested changing the hoses as it's a known weak point with the age bongos are.

Last man frees all type of thing on this one, reiterate NOT BLED correctly by sounds ,was it road tested after they carried out repairs?

The invoice just states :the laird wrote:Last man frees all type of thing on this one, reiterate NOT BLED correctly by sounds ,was it road tested after they carried out repairs?
coolant hoses replaced & system refilled with long life coolant , run up & check circulation all ok
Re: Bugger overheated
Still down to them I feel ,good luck and keep usosted as to how you get on,mind don't drive until it's rectified

Will do .the laird wrote:Still down to them I feel ,good luck and keep usosted as to how you get on,mind don't drive until it's rectified
So when i phone them should i just explain the above and wait and see what they offer?
What i fear is a catch 22 situation where they say bring it to us and we'll look at it, although they do have a good reputation in this town and have been going 20+ years and do quite a few bongos, it was them who said they do loads of services/hose changes every march where people get them serviced ready for the summer camping trips.
Re: Bugger overheated
Put the ball back into their court as they will know as any specialist bongo repairer you don't drive an overheating bongo! You drove it there in good faith it's their prob now to transport it to rectify a fault you didn't have when you took it in good faith for service and repairs also hose changes that they advised
Good luck
Good luck

Re: Bugger overheated
Assuming it was bled correctly then it could be a faulty/poor fitting hose, or even one of the steel pipes that has sprung a leak since being disturbed. Did you have a low coolant alarm fitted? If not, it would be well worth doing regardless of how new the hoses are.

Re: Bugger overheated
ask them if they pressure tested the system after they fitted the new hoses. before they ran it up checked the circulation of coolant.
Re: Overheated
Thanks for the help everyone.
My worry is if the garage sort it how do i know the head hasn't warped and in no time i'll be back to square one.
What sort of checks should i expect the garage to be doing other than pressure testing?

Re: Overheated
If it was mine, I'd have a look to see where the coolant has leaked from, before it goes back to your garage.
And don't drive it anywhere.

Re: Overheated
Update-
Garage came to us with the intention of bleeding it on the drive and driving it to there garage, changed there mind and put it on a low loader and took it away.
Seemed quite genuine on the phone that they wanted to find out why it had overheated and sort it.

Re: Overheated
Garage phoned, the new bottom hose had a split in it, new one being put on tomorrow. Been pressure tested and everything fine, head gasket and head all seem fine.egor617 wrote:Update-

Anything else i should be asking to be checked?
