eco ground sheets

hello

i have seen on some campsites that they require the use of eco ground sheets in awnings.

i have heard that they are not good or waterproof? my awning does not have a sewn in ground sheet, so i can get both types of ground sheet, i am just not familiar with them

any advice, recommendations or anything else !!!!!

I would say that you will not be able to use a 'solid' ground sheet on many sites ... most stipulate that only 'breathable' ones can be used ...

I must say that I agree .. there is nothing worse than seeing large patches of yellow grass after a long term pitch ..

Hi mike,I put my drive away awning up to air on the lawn last year for about a week,I did not use any ground sheet.
When I took the awning down there was a big yellow patch of yellow grass where the awning had been ,what do you think caused this to happen.

Hi,thanks for the information,would that mean that the breathable ground sheet would not cure this problem

I think you'd need a transparent awning and groundsheet to ensure the grass stays green .

any one got a recommendation for a good breathable groundsheet
size 2m x 2m

Eco ground sheets are not waterproof and in the past after 16 days holiday the grass had grown through and trapped the sheet in place, it needed teasing up.
As to sourcing them most caravan shops have a variety of sizes, though typical caravan awnings are at least 8 foot 2.4m wide.


We now have 2 awnings (side and tail) for the Bongo both with sewn in groundsheets, are these no longer permitted?

http://www.camperlands.co.uk/eco-mat-br ... sheet.html i,ve had mine for years and it has stood up too some hassle -it isnt waterproof it has big square holes in it so if you walk on it on soggy ground in socks you will get wet feet -on the other hand it drains off quickly without having to be removed or dried off with towels,its nice to walk on, its easy to cut to size and it isnt slippy when wet unlike old fashioned ground sheets -we used to just put anything that needed to be kept bone dry in one of those supermarket trolley bags.
