Engine Code/headbolts

Hi, I am a newbie to the forum. I have a 95 2.5 turbo bongo with engine code deo4s12 can anyone tell me if this is the same code or similar to the WL engine code as i need to order a head gasket set and the local supplier does not reckonise the deo4s12 code that is on the chassis plate but i have found a head set under the code WL that from pictures look similar....

Also when i replace the head gasket do i need to replace the head bolts or can they be used again, I am aware that some head bolts on other vehicles do not need to be replaced on gasket change but not sure on bongo..

Any Info would be much appriciated..

Not strictly true. They ARE stretch bolts and according to the manual they can be used again providing the actual measured 'stretched' length is within a specified tolerance. (let me know if you need the spec)

The bolt is stretched when the bolts are torqued down but the stretch is within the elastic limit of the bolt material.
As such, when the bolts are subsequently removed, they should go back to their original length.

When I did spenners head, I measured the old bolts and they were to the specified length. (but we still used new bolts)

Fit new bolts ......and get a assistant to help with the torquing and then angles.

Something like 54 goes on a wrench if I remember rightly.

Yep lots of work doing the torquing as Titan says but follow the Mazda manual sequence and settings cos it works. If you don't have a manual, send me a pm and I'll send them to you.

While you've got it apart you should change cambelt & tensioner, as well as consider changing water pump too. Much easier to do when its all in bits anyway.

Agree, ive yet to see a headbolt that exceeds the specified stretch limit, always best to just throw a new set in, why risk it for sake of £30!!
Never seen an egine code like that? it usually always starts WL0? that said i've got a Scooby at home with an engine that according to everyone doesnt exist! so anythings possible lol

I reproduced this from the manual. Not too clear on the forum due to size restrictions but very clear as a pdf.
