What is this for ??

hello can anyone tell what these connections are for ?

on mine they are unplugged but have a shorting wire in one of them, they are located on the RHS of the bonnet

That location can hold up to 4 relays, it looks like only two are mounted on yours (not un-usual);

I suspect that you have the manual air con controls and the Fog lamp is probably not using the loom in the normal way, and is probably the reason it has a link on the end of the cable.

Those 2 relays are for the sidelights and the headlights.

If your sidelights and headlights are working OK, then check if there are cables actually plugged into those 2 relays.

There can be a further 2 relays there, which are for Front Fogs and something else I can't work out at the moment.

Do you have front fogs fitted? If you do, try pulling out that shorting link and see if they switch off.

Edit : Too slow - I was searching the BWM for that 4th relay!

those plugs are for the automatic lights system, you probably have a switch on the panel under the steering wheel, with them removed the side lights come on with the normal switch only not the auto system, as long as they work, it means the system has been removed and bypassed
