radio/dvd was draining battery

Post by antman » Wed Apr 25, 2012 4:56 pm

Hi All

My dashboard radio/dvd was draining 0.9amp's (so i'm told by an auidio electrician ) and was draining my SB. This was a fault in the radio/dvd player.

I would like a radio/dvd player that will work via the LB/Mains hook up as well as when driving as to not be soley off the SB.

Is this possible and any suggestions on radio/dvd around £100-£150?

or shoud I go for roof mount? again any recomendations?

thanks for your help :?

Yes! This sort of problem has been heard of before and is not the normal situation, however its difficult to be sure which makes / models are the cause of excessive current drain!

If you do a search like this one "fitting and dvd" and request Topics it will give you a list of all the discussions with those two words in it, there is a lot of discussion as its a common theme!

By the way - any stereo will work of the LB - it's just a matter of how you wire them up. Whether it will be powered by the hookup depends on whether your hookup wiring powers/charges the battery/12v circuit.

I have my interior lights radio and blinds all from the lesuire battery.

That way i i stop at a pub and have a couple of drinks i can get in the back of the van and sleep it off and listen to the radio if i wish that way if the boys in blue come around the keys are not in the ignition so in theory not in control of the van while over the limit.
