After fitting a new head the valves/tappets etc will "bed in" and should be readjusted after a few hundred miles.

Check out one of my previous posts:
Hi Stuc, not being much of a mechanic myself all I can tell you is that I had my tappets adjusted at a garage in Edinburgh in November 2010 after Ady told me that they sounded a bit noisey. The garage was recommended by Dandywarhol. Cost me £17.25 + vat from Bongobits for the gasket set and I was charged £60.00 all in by the garage for the job which took about an hour.

The torque settings and the tightening sequence are in the workshop manual. I can PM you them if you need them.
I was told by the mechanic that three of my tappets were a tad loose. Bongo sounds great now. Bongo club shop also sells the gasket set that you will need for the job.
