did he test it.or is he just saying that without testing it.
i would give it a good charge and see what happens, you have nothing to loose, only £80 to gain.

Re: Battery dead as dodo
charge it 1st..no need to say you need a new one if its flat due to loss of power.
you know why it when falt,it didnt go flat by itself..

This thread suggests several http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 48#p539438
but it really isn't likely that the battery is actually dead or faulty, just from being totally discharged once in its life, it just needs a mains charger to be put on it for 48 hours and it will most likely come straight back quite happily! Worth asking locally if you can borrow a charger or drop a battery into a neighbour who has one.

Get a "jump Start" and then drive it for about twenty miles. Park it up over night and see if the battery is flat the next day. If it is = you need a new battery. For the right one do a search on here and you will get the model number of the battery. If you are in the AA or similar phone them and they will give you a jump start.

Re: Battery dead as dodo
It should start with jump leads. unless they are the thin ones?? Jump leads need to be thick cable usually as thick as your finger as the thin ones wont pass the large amount of electrical current required to start it.flossie wrote:Thanks tried jump leads and nope not a glimmer
As has allready been said, charge it up then test the battery as being flat shouldnt be a problem.
Our local motor factor will test the battery and charging system all for free.
Have you got a charger? Do you know how to charge it up? if not just ask and we can talk you through it.

Re: Battery dead as dodo
It really is worth trying to charge it over a couple of days, tho I appreciate your urgent need for it.
I managed to let the battery go totally flat on mine and jump starting from the OHs discovery gave no joy either. Thought I was going to have to get a new one but I stuck it on charge for a couple of days, put it back in and lo and behold the bongo started up sweet as anything on the first turn of the key.

Both my batteries were drained when a relay stuck, on keeping the split charge relay open and the heater fan on for a week. The garage started the bongo with a huge boost battery, and then slowly charged both batteries. All is well with the batteries a year later, but we never found what caused the fault.
