Relay for two players?

I've seen lots of mentions of different kinds of relays so hopefully someone would know, can I install a seperate head unit in the space beneath the one I have but use some clever relay trickery to switch over the speaker outputs?
The installed one plays CD + (MP3 disk), SD card, radio (but no Long wave for the live cricket on R4) and also plays DVDs via the roof mounted screen at the back which is good.
I have a better Sony unit which although won't play movies has a rear USB port (must have my music) + Mp3 player input jack and a very very good radio - it can handle my wifes ipod and my iphone. So, if I was able to supply power to both via 'piggy back' ISO thingys would it be possible to switch the speakers at the touch of a button?
I'm far too mean to lash out for a more modern job which would do all of the above

You could use a couple of These. One for the front speakers, one for the rears. Supply the coils in parallel from a separate switch, or if one of the radios has an output for a power antenna, use that.

I thought I would be able to wire some spare male/female ISO connectors to the sockets of the relays and then plug each head unit straight in but unless I'm mistaken, the advert only refers to the coil (see the questions section) the other bits are not included/available what do you think

Some relays are sold for equipment cabinets, where the wiring is connected to a fixed base plate, and the relay then plugs into that base. This is to allow the relay to be swapped easily without disturbing the wiring.

Seems that these are that type of relay, and the base is unavailable.

The good news is that the relay unit is the coil and the contacts - so you can still use it. You just need to solder flyleads onto the pins sticking out the bottom which would have originally plugged into the holes in the base unit.

just look on fleabay for speaker switches, theres loads of stuff on there for selecting input/outputs of just about every type, done loads of build like this and you can get neat little units with a 2 or 3 position switch

Thanks, is it possible to tell how many pins there are on each side I reckon ISO plugs can have up to eight
Also if I was to go this way, could I switch the power/ign leads the same way

So, a solution without relays? Could these switches be used for the power/ign leads (12v) also?
