£6 car alarm
Here's a challenge for you:
I recently bought a cheap alarm -- as a temporary measure for a new bongo -- which goes off if you move it (annoyingly only a 3 second grace period on it). Ideally I want it to be outside so it's nice and loud when it goes off, but hidden, and easily accessible. It's about the size of a small saucer http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kasp-610-Portab ... B002JCTR0G
Can't go under the bonnet, because that'll be too much of a faff...and not in the wheel arches because it won't be weatherproof. Any ideas, or do i just give up and anchor it under the dashboard inside (which won't be much use if the thieves are using a low loader and don't need to break in)?

Depends on how well you know the wiring on a Bongo...?!! You can always get help/support fitting an alarm system on here..Driver+Passengers wrote:With a user's manual entitled "Vehicle electronic Science", good luck!anucatone wrote:Chris how easy is it to install?

Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Re: £6 car alarm

Thats just over ten dollar fifty cents.
Immense fashion statement coming on, like like that Beastie Boy song
What the heck! I'd hang this round my neck, the notion sensing my motions
as i sway to da break beat It look neater than a VeeDub badge
splash the cash wid da one, one, ohhh Dee Bee
Thas not as loud as a baby clocked at 116 decibels but what the hell
it sells sanctuary as long as the battery holds da charge from the motion of the road when parked up on a side street
yah might admit defeat when an H G V passes on da fleet and ROCKS da seat.
Respect.

Stan.

Re: £6 car alarm
I've retro fitted central locking before, just not on a Bongo; so i'll give it a shot

You only need to put the solenoid in the drivers door to work the rest..

Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Re: £6 car alarm
Actually, I mean i've retro fitted a no name replacement central locking receiver after losing the plippers. Not the motors etc.

Re: £6 car alarm
there apearto be 2 wire, 4 wire and even 5 wire solenoids available. What's the differnce and which do I need? I've had a look at the fact sheet in the members area but doesn' mention what kind of solenoid

Re: £6 car alarm
OK so I've bought the remote locking/burglar alarm kit Perros Huevos suggested.
The wiring for the remote locking and solenoid seems pretty straightforward. I can do that.
It's the burglar alarm that is bewildering, not helped by rubbish instructions in tiny print.
Basically there are 10 wires with diagarmatic instructions as follows:
Blue and white wires side by side, it simply says "acc on door trigger". Don't understand.
Next an orange one which appears to go to brake lamp wiring, or at least to a diagram which shows a brake pedal, a lamp and +12v power supply. What's the brake pedal got to do with a burglar alarm?
Single brown wire splits into two to go to indicator lamps. Makes sense. They'll flash when activating alarm.
Yellow one goes into a whole diagrammatic world of gibberish entitled "center lock", the only bits I can make out being "starter, "relay", "cut", "key on" and "key +12V" with green and white wires. I'm assuming this all relates to a 4 pin plug and socket with two green, a yellow and white wires exiting from it. The socket has an anchor hole on it where you presumably bolt it securely somewhere convenient. I have no idea what this is for. It came in the box but is referred to nowhere.
blue/black wire goes nowhere
Red into 12v power supply- ok understood.
Black and pink into siren. Both to one terminal? The siren itself has two wires; a black earth with anchor point and a red one.
A red one going to +12v power supply. understood.
The other question is where does all this connect to the vehicle electrics? On the back side of the drivers side fusebox? Or, assuming I put the control box in the door cavity do I have to route these (quite short) wires through the black door pillar loom and somewhere into the engine? Or do all the relevant vehicle wires conveniently pass through the driver's door anyway?
As you can guess from my ignorance I haven't actually started on this yet (not even got the door panel off), and won't for a few days, so it's not a matter of urgency. I have scoured this website and tried to find wire by wire instructions but can't see them. So if anyone can remember installing one of these recently...
